Community UpdateAs some of you might remember, last year we had to share concerning details regarding the situation of Project Reality. Our financial struggle left us no choice but to start a Kickstarter campaign to sustain the development of the game. Today, we can proudly declare that our goal has been reached. We are very grateful to our dedicated community, especially everyone who has donated or will do so in the future.
As we mentioned last year, reaching our goal would not only ensure the survival of Project Reality but also open new possibilities for the team to work on new and unique content. Today, we finally have the opportunity to share some of that content with you.
[align=left]Space BattlesProject Reality can into Space! During the last few years, we have repeatedly received requests from the community, asking for a less realistic gamemode with more intensive combat. We decided to listen to your feedback and we are now releasing Space Battles! In this new mode, players will fight over a giant spaceship orbiting a habitable planet in the Andromeda galaxy. We have worked tirelessly to give you distinctive weapons, such as TAR-5000S by [R-DEV]ANW1173, as well as WIST-10000 and QSZ-92000 by [R-COM]M.MCC. You will be able to enjoy new weapons on the Andromeda map and spaceship made by [R-DEV]Ason.[align=center][align=center] [align=left]DonbasAside from Space Battles, we are also proud to announce the release of Donbas. As we reported before, we suffered a breach of the webserver at the beginning of November. As a result of that the attacker could have accessed the forum database.Since we had to disable the forums anyways while migrating and hardening our systems, we decided to use this as an opportunity to migrate to a new, more modern and free open source forum software. While this was a monumental task given that age and size of our forums, this will make it easier for us to maintain and secure them in the future. The migration preserved all the relevant data of users, user-groups, threads and posts. You will find everything where you left it and we tried to make it look as close to the old forum as possible. However, some things were not possible to migrate and might require your attention:
No user avatar could be migrated.
For some users signature pictures will be missing
The new forum offers some entirely new user preferences that you might want to customize.
All passwords have been invalidated and will have to be reset using the Forgot password function.
With the new forum also comes a new way to link to topics and posts. We set up a redirect to have as many links pointing to old posts automatically redirect to the new forum, but for some links this might not work. Please notify us of any broken link to old posts that is used in this forum or our Discord and other social media sites. We picked a similar default theme and have started to customize it to get a similar feeling to the old forum. We will keep working on this to improve your experience and are open for user feedback as well as contributions. You can find the public project for the forum style here: https://gitlab.com/realitymod/public/forum-styleWe once again apologize for the inconvenience of this downtime and hope you all will enjoy the new forums together with us!
