Hey,

Time for my first DEV Blog.
So, I saw a few of you asked about Musa Qala when v1.4 got released, so here a little preview of what happened to it since the play test we had 8 months ago.

Compounds

A while back [R-DEV]Rhino with [R-DEV]Dr Rank teased the Afghan v3 statics in Mud, Bricks and Sweat Blog.

I basically had and still have to redo all compounds with those new statics and it was worth the wait!

I can't wait to see the same shots after generating the Lightmaps (Shadows).
Obviously those areas are still work in progress.
I want more details if performance allows it!

Also [R-DEV]Outlawz7 Made a bridge for the map based from the same location.

Hope you enjoy and I got more to show later.
Stay tuned.

As for the ANA, I started the project a long time ago, I recently updated the faction to v1.4 kit standard Here's the design plan.

Design Plan: Afghan National Army faction for BF2:PR (WIP)

From most documentaries of 2015+ it seems like the that standard issued riffle for their ground troops is the M16A2.
So, feel free to PM your sources about other weapons than M16s to me.
The Americans took back a lot of the M16's and good equipment in 2011 so not everybody has them, only a handful. You need to keep in mind though that the Afghan Army is also made up of the National Police and local militias, and I HIGHLY doubt that ALL of these police officers/villagers/soldiers that are in the ANA are going to ALL have M16's. There are alot of AKMs and AKMS rifles used by soldiers in the army, with AK74s used less but still there. The ANA also have some nice decked out tactical AKs and M4's but they are mainly for special forces only. AKS74us exist in the ANA, but are going to be much harder to find in the ANA than AKM/AK74 rifles and M16 rifles, since in the Soviet Invasion the Russians only gave crewmen and etc AKS74us. If someone has an AKS74U in the ANA, it is most likely a guy who had parents/family in the Mujahideen. The ANA kits should be kinda similar to the Taliban kit loadouts in terms of the rifles they have, with the ANA having an M16 option for special kits like grenadiers and officers etc.

EDIT: If you mean will bullets be able to penetrate them, then not even 30mm shells from an Apache can penetrate these walls in r/l.
By wallbangable I meant will bullets be able to penetrate them. I already know about the networkables limit. I guess I gotta thank you for letting me know how good my country-men are at building walls, because I honestly didn't know that even 30mm can't penetrate them.

May I ask for a source for this claim? I actually couldn't believe that when reading this.
I've found that page below however and it shows how some HE and MP rounds from 25mm-30mm projectiles can be stopped by adobe walls which impressed me a lot.

However, KE projectiles seem to be able to penetrate at least 80cm of adobe wall constructions. There seem to be little to no fragmentation effects tho.

some combat effectiveness comparison of multiple caliber/projectiles against adobe walls

Can't say how reliable the source I presented is. I didn't spent much time researching this.

Got other sources but this is the best one, at the end of this video you can clearly see where the 30mm rounds have hit the wall, but not penetrated it, @9:30 in: https://youtu.be/BPcAYG7-udg?t=567

I believe it's simply down to the soft wall absorbing the power of the round and gradually slowing it down, where armour it either has to deflect the round, or it penetrates though, since steel can't absorb much of the energy like the soft wall can.

Yes, that is an impressive video.

I realized a little mistake we are doing. It's pretty common to do it I must say. We can't compare apache's 30x113mm with IFV's 30x173mm. These are actually two completely different rounds. That should be taken into consideration. Bradley's KE in 25x137mm should be able to penetrate those walls as well as IFV's using 30mm cannons like bushmaster2 or MK 30-2/ABM or similar cannons in 30x173mm. The GAU-8 used by the A-10 also is chambered in 30x173mm.

Not sure how it is now ingame. Do you make a difference between apache 30mm and IFV 30mm?

Well the Apache's 30x113mm round is capable of penetrating 50mm of RHA, which is pretty much the same penetration level of the standard 30x170mm round the Scimitar uses.

Can't find any sources however to confirm or deny if the Scimitar's rounds can or can't penetrate the walls in Afghanistan.

But yes, pretty much each type of round is unique ingame, with the apache using the "ahe_30x113_r" projectile.
