Hey guys,
Been some time since our last PR: Falklands update so here is a little something we've been working on, the L4A4 Bren Light Machine Gun :D

Many of you will be familiar with the Bren gun from WW2 but this is the more modern, updated version which fires the 7.62mm NATO round instead of the old .303 round. It was actually preferred to its replacement, the belt-fed GPMG, on account of its lighter weight and remained in British Army service up to the 1990s. During the Falklands War, 40 Commando Royal Marines carried one L4A4 Bren LMG and one L7A2 GPMG per section.

Ingame it will be the primary weapon for the British Automatic Rifleman. Loaded with a 30 round magazine and a rate of fire of ~500 rpm, this relic will give its squad some much needed automatic fire support when moving up on the enemy.
This excellent model was made by {ZW}C-LOKE and then wonderfully textured by [R-DEV]Sabre-Oz, with myself doing the UVs, 3rd person models and exporting.
However this blog is also partly a request for help as we currently have no active animators on our team and without animations this weapon isn't going to behave or feel right ingame. As such anyone from the community who wishes to help out, even if you don't have any experience in animating before please let me know via PMs or by posting below and I'll set you up with everything you need but you can start off by watching Chuc's animation tutorial. There is also plenty of other tasks open to the community for anyone else who wants to help out in other areas or on other items :D
PS. There is a special e-cookie for who can guess where the blog title is from :D
EDIT: and for those of you who can't see how to aim this weapon this should clear things up for ya :)

Excuse me....maybe Im stupid or something....but if this model is meant for real..........then isnt the aim absolutely useless? Well there is a mag right in front of it....so I guess you cant aim very well through it when you see a mag....or am I wrong?

Don't worry pretty much everyone makes that mistake to begin with as the rear sight is pretty small and hard to see.Posted 2014-01-14 at 12:18 by Rhino
