Northern Ireland
In 2000 my Regiment moved from Munster in Germany, back to the UK. We did a straight swap with another Regiment, The Royal Dragoon Guards, lierally swapped tanks and all our kit and kaboodle and established ourselves in Tidworth.
Tidworth is nice but it is right next to Saliabury Plain Training Area http://www.defence-estates.mod.uk/publications/DTE/871_DTE_Salisbury_Plain_Public_Information_Leaflet.pdf
and being so close means we are out quite a lot, every time some Colonel or Brigadier wants to play with some tanks we all have to go out and paint ourselves green :)
In 2002 most of the Regiment deployed to Northern Ireland as NIBAT 2 (Northern Ireland Bn 2) and left our tanks behind for a while, sorry i cant find any pics from this period, im not sure why?
We were based in Dungannon just North of Armagh, it was good fun.
Tidworth
Back to Tidworth after NI, and got into our sore role of playing with tanks again.
Ranges in Castle Martin - Wales.

Day to day maint on the tank park.

And of course a little bit of recruiting in a few local towns, for which i even picked up a parking ticket in a Scimitar!!

Thats enough army stuff for now, i will try to add a bit more detail next time.
Bit of PR
My primary job in the team is that of an MA, particularly when it comes to British armour and tactics. I spend lots of time getting photos of new kit or latest modifications, believe it or now most of the armour points brought up in the suggestions thread have been covered by us many weeks in advance, weighing up time, need and benefits.
I have been getting myself into modelling the last 18 months or so when i have time, which is rarely. I have been lucky enough to be involved in a few projects which you may see in a Mod near you soon. In the meantime, i have been working on possible ways to complement main base defences, including things like Armoured Sangar's:

Still very much a WIP, i will see how i get on with this.
The Armoured Sangar is thick armoured box, with armoured glass, which can be manned by 2 men. The Sangar is fitted with an Enforcer RWS http://www.selex-sas.com/EN/Common/files/SelexSAS_UK/pdf_datasheet/eo_laser/Enforcer.pdf which can be used to fire very accurate 7.62mm, .50 cal and 40mm grenades from a safe position inside the box.

Well more from me in a few weeks i expect. ttfn.

I love that you got a parking ticket in a Scimitar! how awesome is that...
Pretty cool that it says "CVRT" on the ticket, I would have thought it would say something stupid like "tank... thingy"
You should use that for a sig or something
Anyways, always nice to read your blog, stories and pictures are great! Keep at itPosted 2009-06-03 at 02:13 by Z-trooper -
WTF I thought we had some real jerk cops here in the states, but I cant believe one of your police had the nerve to ticket a member of the military! you should take that ticket and shoot it with the scimitars 20mm.

Heh, nice stuff. I am always taken by surprise by the Scimitar's size, though. It's so damn small
