Is it really impossible to add it? Then how were the developers of the Forgotten Hope 2 mod, on the same PR engine, able to add it?

Even the basic leaning system from FH2 still has some flaws. For example, it does not use the standard Q and E buttons due to engine input limitations. Instead, players need to press Shift+A to start leaning, press shift again to stop leaning etc. Developing a more sophisticated solution would require even more reserve engineering on top of what has already been done by FH2.

We are definitely not interested in just a basic leaning system as it would have the same issues Squad had before ICO (Q/E spam to avoid bullets etc). Whether we would be interested in a more complex system is another question. Still, the last time we discussed it, the team was not particularly enthusiastic about it.

TL;DR
Leaning would be a serious drain on resources, and we do not have the guarantee that we would be satisfied with the results. Currently, we do not have the desire to work on it.

Leaning doesnt improve gameplay for this game no matter how its implemented, imo
