Default [Static]Old tower and hangar

Here's what I'm working on for Wiccas awesome Afganistan map.

I'll be updating this thread as the work progresses.

Update 29/08 2010
Model done, basic color texture on the outside walls applied.
Tris = 5092

It reminds me to the tower at the main base in ArmA 2. GREAT WORK!!!

looks like a great static gameplay and visual wise, I'll just pop these links in here as I think they will help you to show the model in a manner for our artwork team to crit.

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm following Rhinos tutorial the best I can. It's the first time I'm texturing with palettes so we'll se how it goes.

I'm using 'common_01_c.dds' for the base and I'm not sure yet about the others. I will take a look at some dirt layers etc. later today I think.

A not "bombed" model would been fine also.. not every thing need to be destroyed in this game but its probably posible to make that be a wreack model for a normal one also if its getting j-dammed or some thing...

But its awesome so far

rgr I would advise to plan a little more ahead than just the colour layer hehe. Without looking at any refs I would suggest possibly some of these textures could do well:

\objects\staticobjects\pr\textures\ folder:
bigbunkerdirt.dds nice dirt texture you could use for your walls and stuff
conc_tile.dds / conc_tile_2.dds / conctile_big.dds are some pretty good concrete textures, although you have to use them on the colour layer and use a null detail, or the other way round.
truss2.dds /truss3.dds are both some good truss textures you could use, they have an alpha in them for the truss thou if you wanted the player to get close up to them (ie, trusses that had fallen down, twisted and bent) you could model the holes.

Other than that just general cracks and dirt out of the normal vbf2 pallets out of the common, military and ind folders. Just dont use any of the _asia or the _middle-east textures
