GTX 970 Display driver not responding
Hello,
I have a new Gigabyte GTX 970 card and for some reason the display driver is crashing. It happens ingame and in banchmark (3DMark). In PR I get black screen for a few seconds and after that it's working again. Sometimes computer totally freezes with a random color screen (white, pink, green) and only reboot helps. Playing GTA V computer gets randomly rebooted. Banchmarking in 3DMark gives me display driver crash every time on graphics test #2. Underclocking the GPU by -100Mhz made the banchmark fail only on the last test with a white screen. Made a memory test with 0 errors (memtestG80) Temperatures are good. Made a clean driver reinstall using DDU. FurMark runs fine with default settings. Currently I got Xilence 580W PSU. Could it be PSU bottleneck? I had GTX 550Ti before without these problems. Code:

Re: GTX 970 Display driver not responding
I can only guess here:
Have you tried to physically remove and reinstall the GPU, ? And then try using the GPU in the other PCIE-X x16 slot ? It is possible your PSU is bottleneck, is your CPU also Overclocked? Have you tried running both CPU stress test (Intel Burn test or similar) and GPU stress test (3D mark custom) at same time to see if you're PSU is failing? |

Re: GTX 970 Display driver not responding
Have you tried DDU?
Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 15.3.0.2 Use it to remove and reinstall cleanly. |

Good afternoon, I apologize for the problem you are having with your system. Here are some steps you can take diagnosis: To remove any possible conflict with software I recommend using Uninstaller Driver Display available >>> here <<< then you will need to boot your system in Safemode (press F8 while the system is starting), then run and choose Display Driver Uninstaller the states button "Recommended Uninstall". When the uninstall is complete, you will have to re-install the latest drivers choosing the "Custom Installation" option. In the next window only install the main display driver and uncheck all other options and check the box that says "Run clean installation." This translation is not very precise about what you will see upon the software, but I hope you understand the main idea. -Try The card in a different PCIe slot -Rebice +12 V rail in your power supply BIOS usually in PC Health Status, System Monitor or Hardware Monitor and confirm that you have a healthy current between 11.04va 12.06v without fluctuations. Rapid fluctuations or severe surges or sags in its +12 V power supply indicates that it is not working properly and require a replacement. -Try A different video card in your computer ?Test the GTX 770 on a different computer Please follow us on the test results and if you need more help, you can contact us anytime 24/7. If you want, we also have support in Portuguese via Skype with SuporteEVGA username available Monday through Friday 9:00 to 5:00 Eastern Time. This message was translated by Google Regards, EVGA |

Re: GTX 970 Display driver not responding
Got a new PSU Chieftec 750w. Didn't help.
Tryied to reinstall the GPU. Didn't help. I cant' use the second PCIe, because it works in x4 mode only. Guys are telling, that there is a bug in drivers and Nvidia released a hotfix. Didn't help. I guess, I will wait for a driver update. |

Re: GTX 970 Display driver not responding
I have Gigabyte GTX 970 as well. And using Corsair RM550 PSU. When playing Witcher 3 on Ultra max power consumption is around 260W, so it definitely not PSU bottleneck here or issue with it.

Re: GTX 970 Display driver not responding
I think it's just a driver bug, because the card itself performing good under full load in FurMark. 3DMark test for high performance gaming PC (Fire Strike) also passes without any errors.

Re: GTX 970 Display driver not responding
I am on Win 10 now and all drivers updated. Got a reboot in a middle of Arma 3 session and after that played for a few hours without issues. I just don't know why this is happening. It's just so random, that I can't find a way to reproduce it.
