Soviet Army (1980s)
So we are missing a (good) historically-correct 1980s Soviet-Afghanistan game on market.

It can also be used in hypothetical Cold War-went-hot scenario map if that ever become a thing. | |

Archer could offer some great gameplay.

Re: Soviet Army (1980s)
Archer would be amazing with the Soviets, I dreamed about it once. Then again, you would have to give up the Canadians on the map for it to work, and have permission from ze mapper.

The Canadians wouldn't be a problem, since it would need to be in a different folder to change some Static Objects from the map (e.g. removing the NATO mainbase and the VCP as well as remaking the abandoned airfield to make it look like new)

Re: Soviet Army (1980s)
Saaremaa could work great with a Cold War USMC vs Cold War USSR layer. Sounds like OpF to me
Also the Northern Alliance was a rather well equipped group for their time period. I'd say they could function well in an AAS environment with a reasonable ticket advantage above the soviets. Insurgency wouldn't be very good in wide open spaces for the USSR because they don't have the same range advantage as their modern counterpart |

Re: Soviet Army (1980s)
Kind of, it's only a design plan but there's two very talented texture workers that I entered in contact some time ago and have showed some willingness to get the project going, and there's also permission to use the Operation Archer map.
It have things such as kit set-ups and vehicle tasks on things that you'll probably need if you wish to recreate truly the scenario (huge tech superiority of the Soviets, while the Mujahideen will have to rely on guerrilla tactics, taking in mind that in inf vs inf combat they'll be pretty much equal due to the lack of scopes). I have no ways of keeping the project now, and as you also want to make that scenario, I can get you the permission to edit the Design Plan as you will. |
