Re: Is this all good and compatible?
that all works but you can get this
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! for cheaper with much better parts including a better cpu and a better gpu, just add a psu, that corsair psu is good but at 550w and being a corsair its way more then you need to spend, you can easly get away with 400w psu looking around 50$ would get you a great one. here this psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153023 this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042 the best low end case on the market nothing beats the antec 300 at that price. grand total of all this including tax and shipping (not including rebates) Grand Total: $349.27 |

Re: Is this all good and compatible?
Compatible yes, "all good" ? - no.Motherboard is "re certified" and the video card uses DDR2 memory (slower),yet the price is ~80$.
When a similar (model) card is going for 59 CAD (and if u do the mail bate,it goes to 39$). Cheaper card with better performance. Can probably find even better deals. link to the card http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...3&promoid=1192 |

Re: Is this all good and compatible?
My guess both (cards) are on the same level. That 4650 also uses DDR2.
ARMA 2 says (in the readme.txt) it needs at least a 4850/8800 or better as well as a quad core cpu .The higher the visibility (setting) - the more cpu power needed. I've seen 4850 (512mb) for $90 and less,I have 3 and the gigabyte's version is the best (out of the 3) Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GV-R485ZL-512H Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards runs very cool (under 50C) at full load and overclockes to 750 -at least my sample does. The stock 4850 runs too hot (~90C idle) and OC too little. edit* add these 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136056 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103648 and it's what I typing at atm |

Re: Is this all good and compatible?
What about this? Its cheaper and ddr3 EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card - 512MB, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV 512-P3-N841-TR at TigerDirect.com
I am selling my xbox and I think im only gonna get 250 max out of it with everything with it and then I'ma sell my pc i have now so I need to keep it in 300$ range Its ok if it plays crysis on high or normal or other games on normal |

Good one I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago - had enough to get a motherboard and a CPU or a video card, but not both..... so after some researching and calculating ended up getting a mATX board (DFI RS482) with built it gpu (IGP) + CPU (athlon64 3000),then a few months later got the video card (ATI 800XL) .That was before Crysis however. That power supply+memory combo is not a good value - should get at least 4GB of RAM for the 100$ they're asking. edit* As far as the motherboard and cpu go: socket 775 does not have much left as far as upgrades go, Afaik there will be no more (new) cpu's introduced for that (socket) since Intel has (finally) moved away from the Front Side Bus architecture. It's "somewhat" similar with AMD,except that the new AMD cpu's (45nm AM3 DDR2/DDR3) are backward compatible with the AM2+ socket.Which means I can buy an AMD AM2+ motherboard "today" and put the new AM3 cpu that would comeout "tommorow". That's in fact what I did:two AM2+ motherboards are running AM3 cpu's (Athlon 2 250 and Phenom X3 710) I can use these cpu's now with DDR2 based motherboard and also use the same cpu's with AM3 board (when/if Iget one) I do like that kind of compatibility options, that's for sure. Love all my sockets | |
