Hi,

Great guide, lots of useful info! One thing I've noticed though is that very few structures aside from fire bases get built on the public servers I've been playing on.

I even saw a squadleader telling his engineer not to bloody well build any trenches or .50 emplacements as those things only act as bullet mangets.

I am somehwat lacking the in-game experience to comment on that, but what do the veterans think? Is that a valid point?

Cheers,

Depends on the circumstances - you don't lose anything from building fox-holes, and someone might find them useful. As I said, I tend to put them up mainly for anti-tank people to have a safe place to reload in. Barbed wire is really useful for restricting access.

There is an argument that defences make a FB stand-out: If seclusion / stealth is your goal, then not building up too many structures can be prudent. Generally, though, all the people tramping around will reveal the position anyway, so defences are nice.

Make it like 50% shorter, and I can guarantee you, 90% more people will read it. Nice guide, but probably being ignored atm.

I would agree, I think structures are a great asset and it's a shame some SLs neglect them. An outpost seldomly stays undetected for long, and when the bad guys are coming, it is handy to have sandbags to hide behind, or a nice .50 to greet them... (provided it is pointing the right way)

Agreed. As a new player, I feel like I benefited enormously from this guide. I'm going to make an effort to incorporate these tips into my play.
