Re: New Laptop ideas
My Sony VAIO CW series laptop was very good. I got it one and a half years ago for about $850. Runs Project Reality at about 30-40 fps, however the core prosessor can easily be upgraded for a better experience. It also came with a very good graphics card that can run Arma II. However I have to upgrade my prossessor for it to work.

Re: New Laptop ideas
Dells new XPS17 is a good way to go, new sandy bridge processor and Nvidia 555M GT ( very good GPU for a laptop, apparently capable of 3D vision games) But I would advise against getting a 3D laptop.. They wont be able to power it on any level of detail in the near future.. So it'd be great for about 3 months, but after that useless :P (and dell charge around ?300 extra for it all..)

Re: New Laptop ideas
I've heard of big heat issues with Vaio's there was even a recall on them at one point.
The super specced Asus G73 sounds great but the forums are full of issues.... I had an Acer before which as normal died just after the gaurentee, replaced it with an MSI GX720, same game soooo much cooler, the acer was hot to touch the MSI is cold. 2 years and still OK with an occasional internal clean and a reinstall. With laptops you have to keep the cooling very clean. Really think hard about a portable - for gaming I've got an extra keyboard and a 24" screen so the portable bit is a bit silly for me. |

Re: New Laptop ideas
try to find laptops with good AMD laptop GPUs, they seem to be better than nvidias, at least in my experience.
for 1200$ you can get this Alienware M15x Laptop Details | Dell though its 15" and a bit small |

for an unbiased review of each GPU for laptops I use:
Comparison of Laptop Graphics Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech Just uses benchmarks and has pretty much all of the GPUS available |

Re: New Laptop ideas
Dell XPS 16. I play PR maxed out and rarely get below 80 FPS. screen is gorgeous and is amazing for PR or anything ells. battery lasts about 3 hours searching the internet and watching youtube the whole time. backlit keyboard, slot load blue ray, HDMI out. touchpad is amazing, has tons of multi finger gestures and stuff so you only really need to plug in a mouse for PRing.
