I am a gunner on a Bradley in the army, and realistically you use AP against APC type armor, the TOW against heavy army, HE against light armor as in trucks, troop transports, things like that, and 7.62 against troops.

thats the 'realistic' version

Sounds about right. My point was that in game at the moment, AP is more effective than HE against any vehicle - you really have to pound away at a truck to destroy it with HE, but a few well-placed AP rounds will knock it out in short order, especially hits to the front (the bonnet/engine area).

Well, im not sure IRL, but currently you can blow an APC appart using 12.7mm bullets in the game, for example Wz551A vs. stryker on Qwai.

what realistci about that.. armor piercing against a light vehicle is supposed to demolish.. and when you shoot you dont only hit the engine and disable it.. an AP round should destroy it and blow the engine, destroying the vehicle. HE is mostly used for infantry.

Then you would also need to hit something blow-up-able. Like the gas-tank or ammo.

According to this site: http://www.military-today.com/apc/btr_80a.htm

The BTR80 protects againts 12.7mm rounds to the front, but only has protection against 7.62 mm on the other parts of the body. So yes,12.7mm rounds have the capability to penetrate most APC armor.
