It isn't a cross to indicate Christ, its a cross to indicate medicine. The MEC one was presumably made a crescent moon to be a little different, I guess it just happens to be associated with Islam as well.

Not really. The red cross (as in the red cross movement) is in fact Switzerland's flag with it's colours reversed. Whether this is true is not completely known as it could also be related to the Christian church. However, the crescent is directly related to Islam.
Quote:
During the war between Russia and Turkey, the Ottoman Empire declared that it would use the red crescent on a white background in place of the red cross. While respecting the red cross symbol, the Ottoman authorities believed that the red cross was, by its very nature, offensive to Muslim soldiers. The red crescent was temporarily accepted for the duration of this conflict.

In PR it isn't to represent Christ at all, unless DICE has a hidden agenda or the vBF2 medic is a devout Christian...

The introduction of a common distinctive protection symbol for medical personnel in the field, namely a white armlet bearing a red cross.
This is the symbol of medical personnel in war since 1863. Whether the symbol is Christian or not is up for discussion as the ICRC states it's the reversed colours of the Swiss flag but there are no old sources claiming that to be true. However the usage of the crescent is as I said before directly related to religion.

Then you can also use the caduceus as a symbol of medicine.

Red cross: comes from the reversed swiss flag, wich is based on christianity.

Red halfmoon: Turks didnt want the red cross because it was christian looking and went with the halfmoon. It then got adopted by other islamic countries as well.

Israel uses a red davidstar irc.

Doenst matter what religions they are based on, they have simply been a symbol of recognition over the years and people are used to them.
