Re: Mouse suddenly only worked diagonally?
Well,
as it happens I believe I managed to overcome my problem without buying a new mouse! I downloaded a driver patch for the Windows 7 drivers and installed it incorrectly. Now, set point doesn't load up at all and I don't have diagonal mouse problems. Thanks Logitech for breaking Set Point and fixing my problem |

Re: Mouse suddenly only worked diagonally?
In my experience, logitech is a piece of crap for mouse. And pretty much everything else, headsets, keyboards, you name it. Ive been disapointed by them for everything I got.
My best mouses EVER were microsoft, especially the old ones. My first optical microsoft mouse lasted me 6 years!! And it was the left button who died on me, not the laser, lol! Boilerrat is right about the fancy stuff, useless unless you REALLY want some extra buttons or something like that. The simpler the better, in my exp. |

Re: Mouse suddenly only worked diagonally?
This tends to be my approach to everything in life
However, this time the simple solution was not consumerism but disabling the driver it would seem. When I get a Macbook I'll get a lovely, cheap and corded mouse. Wireless = not simple because of batteries Too much faffing. AK47 mouse ftw. |

Good luck gaming on that.
Happy your problem was resolved, I hate logitech... The only thing they make that has lasted me is their keyboards. Don't buy a headset from them. |

I had similar problems with 3 of my A4tech mouses: One (G9-570HX) was broken years ago after few months usage, the other two lasted for years but last week one of them broken (G9-730FX) and today the 3rd (oldest) one (G7630) too. The reason and the symptoms were the same: the mouse dropped down accidentally then the cursor started to move only diagonally (bottom-left to top-right and vice versa). I have tried to disassemble and clean each of them before but had no succeed. Now I went to a step further: I have disassembled the sensor IC too: - There are 2 little square holes (2mm x 0.5mm) on each side of the back (top) of the sensor IC. I have pushed in to one of them with a very thin screwdriver -> on the opposite side the sensor cover plastic plate (with the small camera hole) popped out - Then I have blew out the dust (or whatever small particle that may have caused the problem) - Then I have put (click) back the small plastic cover plate - Then I have assembled the whole mouse together - And lo and behold: It works again! (Now all of mine mice works perfectly!) I hope it helps (even though mine mice were not Logitech) | |
