Default Merkava gunner sight

Currently the gunner sight of the Merkava seems to located on the top the the turret and offset to the side as well which makes it very hard to hit anything at close range due to both vertical and horizontal parallax.

Surely the tank has a gun sight more inline with the barrel?

Not sure which variant/model of Merkava is in game, but judging by this. vertical Parallax will be crazy at close range, horizontal should be on par with other tanks in my opinion.

I don't gun so I don't know how far off it is compared to image above.

Gonna be real here, just take it as nuances to the FCS mechanic that force a different playstyle for assets. It makes shooting more difficult but not by much imo.

The optic positioning is more or less the same for the Abrams and Leopard and to a degree the T-72 variants. The Abrams and Leopard themselves have auxiliary gunners optics that line up more correctly with the gun but ofc lack thermals and function off manual ranging or through range holdovers so if the Merkava has one it wouldn't be a decent trade unless you seek to have multiple optics options.

This really is just a lack of practice issue. Understand where your parallax is in close range, and if you're not sure, quickly fire your coax to see about where you will impact and then fire. Since you don't have to load the round anymore, you should be able to almost instantly fire on a position. And once you have a feeling of where your round goes when up close (which is an issue for every vehicle that the optic isn't mounted right on the weapon), you should no longer need to use coax to understand where to shoot.
