Default What can blow up caches?

I accidently blew up a friendly cache with one rifle grenade. The cache was overrun and I was engaging enemies in the cache building. I kept missing the window but suddenly the cache was destroyed, I think I got a team vehicle damage message, and I was instakilled as a traitor.

I have never seen this happen. I thought only C4 and IEDs could destroy caches. I mean, people put claymores and throw grenades around caches all the time. The manual says "The caches can be destroyed by small or large packs of C4. Other weaponry will only do no or light damage to a cache." My grenade seem to have done all the damage.

Is this meant to be possible? Was it a bug? Has anyone seen it happen before?

The cache must have been heavily damaged already and your grenade just finished it. Explosions other than those caused by TNT/C4/Area Attack have a very small damage modifier (usually around 0.1) but they still do damage the cache.

Thumbs up Re: What can blow up caches?

You are right. I checked the tracker and this timing is insane!
  1. C4 was placed on the cache.
  2. C4 blows up but the cache is still up.
  3. Fractions of a second later my grenade hits the cache registering the kill on me.

The explosion of the cache also takes out one enemy which gets me a kill with unknown weapon rather than the grenade.

Just my luck.
