Lightbulb Mic check status indicator

If there was some way the game could detect or do a test to determine if you have a functioning microphone and display it next to your name in the squad menu, it would save a massive amount of time and frustration during squad setup and game-play as well as making admins job so much easier for managing teamwork/squads.

One step further would be an option to make your squad either Mic only or inclusive. But even just a bare-bones way to determine no mic players instantly would be a godsend.

Obviously not suggesting a system to exclude all no mic players from the game completely, a small percentage do go on to be good players and they beef up server numbers; but the current surge in new players has brought along an infuriatingly large number of players that are ready to ignore all orders, provide zero communication and play PR like its run and gun couterstrike.

A good filtering system would be some much needed relief for the squad leaders that hep keep the game alive and played as intended.

I don't think there is a way to detect mics effectively. Also, even if such system was in place, I bet some people would plug in their mics not to appear as mic-less but would still avoid talking.

In such cases, where people are the primary factor, it is difficult to implement an efficient technical system which would solve the main issues. It makes more sense to just create/join a squad with "Mic" in its name as the effect will be more or less the same. So in general, it sounds like a lot of work for very little gain.

This is assuming the game is played by logical, cooperative, English speaking players whether mic or not. This is very much not the case, the flood of extremely disruptive no mic players currently is at an all time high.

They will join squads, take good kits, fill up spaces for otherwise good players and waste assets all before SL's can figure out whats going on because SLs don't have time to constantly mic check/vet players around the clock while also being engaged in the game, especially when active with assets or in combat (ie. half of the game after the loading screen phase).

Valid, but if players can even make it this far they're already light years ahead of the disruptive no-mic players that are causing the most damage currently.

I think it would take a load of stress off SL's if they had the ability to automatically filter out a significant portion of the time wasting and combat ineffective players from the get go so they can keep focused on team work and comms with players actually willing and able to participate to the level they require. And the option for inclusive squads would still give no-mic players a place to fill in the ranks and do whatever it is they do.

*additional bonus, it would make it easy for admins to free up space when servers are packed during peak times.

The nitty gritty of implementing such a system like you say is the main issue. If its a total pain in the ass to do I think there's other things worth focus. But in the off chance its relatively easy to implement, I think it would be a totally valid feature that would only benefit players and servers that intend to play the game the way it was intended.

One server I played on recently has automated(?) kick system that monitors mic usage. If you play 20 minutes without using your mic you get kicked to promote teamwork, as the kick message says. Not sure whether or not it's a good idea but that's how they decided to do it.
