Also true, but the Challenger 2 is been upgraded (or as some of you may say, downgraded) to have a 120mm smoothbore cannon just like our masterful allies.

Soon our Eurofighters will have some lovely stealth technology such as the F-22.......

The Challenger 2 is fitting the Euro 1500hp Powerpack at the moment, other upgrades will need to be tested. I am telling you, if what you say is true, i say goodbye to the most accurate tank gun in service.

Eddie be careful - AFAIK - the new cannon is still undergoing testing, since January this year, and is not ready for active service by a fair distance yet, and it is not known if it will even be utilised.

I don't enough to rule it out or in defnitely but I am 98% no decision has been made either way yet. And Pence you are right, it would be a shame to see the C II lose one of its greatest assets, but thats BAE for you.

BAE do not make the decisions, the MOD does.

The MOD do not often make a specific decision, on the development of the smoothbore - the MOD asked for a variation on their current barrel which would 'streamline' with allied forces. They did not use the word smoothbore...and look what they got..smoothbore

Your Eurofighters won't have anywhere near the stealth of an f-22 let alone the radar. Pence, I don't get why you are dissapointed about the upgrade. While it maybe accurate, the rounds it uses could be used to a better potential with a longer more powerful gun, such as the L44/l55.
