Will you be able to use the smoke launchers or are they merely for decoration?

You wil be able to use them, im 100% sure. For one, its Project Reality, plus its already programmed into BF2, if you watched the Presentation Video you would know.

Its in DCR too

Here an almost identical veiwing angle.
This is a pic of my worrior taken in Bosnia '96 fully uparmored. Our was fitted with the adverse weather drivers screen. However is is hardly ever used.

They arent just for smoke, some tanks carry fragmentation grenades in them in case they get surroudned by infantry, the tiny fragments of metal willl just bounce of the reinforced chobham armour of the Challenger but they will slice through flesh and bone eliminating any infrantry that try and run up besdie a tank to try and open a hatch or throw a grenade in.

wish they had the shrap nades on the tanks. and with you could pop more then one smoke in the game i saw a tank pop like 5 it was cool. then some more did there was smoke ever where.

Also, the speed of this thing is amazing, will the MCV 80 Warrior be similarly as fast in-game?
