I really wnted to sir, but judging from my country's internet plan speed limit and data capping , it will take me forever just to secure the needed versions of max

When are you going to update the link from the lightmaps from the basic editor/tool tutorial?

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18...g-modding.html

Many of us are waiting to get that fixed so we can create new maps!

  1. That has nothing to do with this tutorial/topic, please refrain from posting in topics not relevant to your question/statement.
  2. As stated many times, you do not need lightmap samples to start making new maps, and they are only used in the final stages of making a map IF you lightmap with the BF2Editor, which is not recommended as it is lower quality, takes longer, and not all objects have lightmap samples, meaning you can't lightmap all objects, without at least manually generating samples for objects that don't have them.
  3. Because of 2, packing up and uploading LM samples is pretty low priority on our list of things to do so it might be a bit before we do, but if someone really is in the final stages of making their map (has all the terrain and static object placement done etc) and can't LM in 3DsMax for w/e reason, then we certinally will upload them, but as of right now, there is no urgency as we are unaware of any maps being in these final stages and not going to be LMed in 3DsMax.
  4. All of this has been said to you before, in other topics.

Hey, ever since bf2 editor stopped liking me at all and won't bake lighmaps im trying to learn how to bake lightmaps with 3dsmax but I ran into a problem.

First of all from what I've been told entire proces have been streamlined and more automated, so please confirm if that what i compared below is truth.
Old Way >> New way
  1. Converting Overgrowth to Static>> Tools automatically converts overgrowth to static (use Load Overgrowth button)
  2. 3DsMax LMing Scene Setup >> Scene setup is done automatically when open LM dialog
  3. Importing Your Terrain into 3DsMax >> Terrain and sealevel is loaded automatically, only small fixes or mesh optimisations need to be done manually
  4. Importing Your Statics into 3DsMax >> Static import is done automatically with static children, alpha textures are added automatically, point light is done
  5. Importing Your Overgrowth into 3DsMax >> Use Load Overgrowth button and its done automatically
  6. Cleaning Up Your Objects >> Done automatically
  7. Creating Reference, Shadow Casting Objects >> Done automatically
  8. Replacing Objects with Reference Objects >> Done automatically
  9. Sorting out your Statics for Lightmapping >> Done automatically
  10. Importing your Sun & Preparing your Lights >> Done automatically
  11. Testing your Light & Lightmap Settings >> Have to be done manually
  12. Full Object Lightmaps >> Have to be done manually
  13. Terrain Sun & Sky Lightmaps >> Have to be done manually
  14. Terrain Sea Water Depth/Transparency Lightmap >> Have to be done manually
  15. Combining & Splitting your Terrain Lightmap >> Done automatically
  16. Optimizing "Flat" Lightmaps >> Done automatically

My problem is when trying to bake final maps, (baking few selected statics worked fine) it shows me that error message and won't do anything.

Could you help me with that?
