Talking of insurgency i watched a BBC documentry on the tv a few months ago. I think it was in the phillipines where a seperatist group were using muskets!! They couldnt get hold of or afford moden weapons so were using muskets againt the military. Anyobdy know or heard anything about this?

muskets man those guys never got past the old buccaneer days did they? i would also imagine the muskets wouldn't even cause a dent in modern body armour presuming they'd hit anything at range. u know if they have ever killed anyone?

I can only relate via the time we Danish got pwnd by the Germans in 1864 at Dybbøl (The old danish/german border). We had muskets and swords, they had bolt rifles and water cooled gattling guns

yeah but still. 18th century-late 19th century is less of a difference then 18th century-modern weapons.

Yes a modern day coflict that why i was so amazed! They are fighting the national army of a south american country so they dont have 'body armour' mainly they booby trap mountain passes that the army patrol rather than fighting them directly..
