Re: reduce effects volume when piloting aircraft
The issue here is that sound volumes vary from different combinations of sound cards, settings and headsets.
I use an onboard sound card on Software high settings. I do have to lower in-game sounds to 20% to have a good balance of mumble comms and eveyrthing else. It's sometimes a little loud as passenger on helicopters, but in the pilot seat is just fine. But I remember when I was testing some things and switching to Hardware would produce a very different result in the sound volumes. And disabling EAX as well. On top of that, I know for sure that people with off-board soundcards have even different results. And people with crazy good headphones even more. So we can't code for all of that. People have to resort to different solutions to fix this. :S |

Re: reduce effects volume when piloting aircraft
generally, i set my audio to 30% as either pilot, or if i'm gunner in a vehicle (relying on vehicle commander here to kill engine and listen). 100% all else

If you think some vehicle is missing the volume obstruction, feel free to make bug report about it. Same goes if you think something should not have the lowered volume, e.g. passengers outside the vehicle. | |

Re: reduce effects volume when piloting aircraft
The biggest problem in my opinion is the Little Bird..... because it has no doors the volume is probably cranked to the max making it almost impossible to hear AA lock tones in my experience.

Re: reduce effects volume when piloting aircraft
I don't know about chopper pilots, but in fighters the sound is incorrect.
You hear absolutely ZERO engine sound in real life. Only the radio comms, and a electronic buzz, and a slight whoosh, some breathing. Afternburner is a very quiet sound, more of a sound change than increase. From French fighter pilot giving examples of sound for a simulator: WITH HELMET AND EARPLUGS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yze8Dclc1hY JUST HELMET - https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=YseNtrdzNOM ^SAME JET NO HELMET - https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=E1JS4IPmFMA It is quite surprising how quiet it is in the cockpit, with helmet and earplugs he says. superloud sounds is hollywood |
