This is a pain in the ass, I've fixed the desktop and icon problems but it seems to be running in software mode, how do I change it to hardware mode?

That looks quite like a minor version of the corruption that I got when my old radeon 9700pro overheated, but that was because my fan was clogged up with dust. I think that is a software issue in any case, since only the icons seem to be affected. One thing you can try is downloading TweakUI from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx and installing that. It has a "repair icons" option in there somewhere (can't check where because im using Vista). Hope it helps EDIT: Didn't realise there was a second page. What do you mean by 'it seems to be running in software mode'? Windows hardware accelleration is controlled thus: http://support.riverdeep.net/techtips_detail.asp?id=79 but if you lower hardware acceleration the thing still looks just the sameājust runs slower. |

Right fixed that Direct3D problem so we're back to square one, which is actually progress.
