k i have downloaded the 3ds max9 trail , and i have to say this isnt hard as i thought , right now i am playing with it and i have to say after watching the tutorial vids i can prolly finish this project less then a year , including a secret project hehehe

I dont know if this will come as incouragement or not but it is meant to be. When i first started modeling i learned a few basics, but then jumped right in. This was one of my first models:
So if you want to make one you can, it will be hard and time consuming. The hardest part will probably be the UVs |

yes, eventually it will be broken up, but non detail layers, i want to do it in larger sections, then break it up even more. The reason i havent finished it is because i have too many more important things to get done.....like USI

Most military vessels are armed to the teeth. This is gonna be a long shot, but after you're done (lol), you might want to consider the Admiral Kuznetsov for the Russians, which is also the same thing as the Ukrainian Varyag for the Chinese. Then you can have carrier to carrier engagements on 17km^2 maps.
