Re: New GFX Card for Whino
Btw, I'm also planning to buy a USB 3.0 powered monitor for college.
Essentially it's just a monitor that doesn't requires a powercord, only one single USB 3.0 cord. This guy hooked up 7 monitors to one computer! You'll have to compensate for the size though, the maximum size I found is 22 inch. Also don't overkill like this guy, as it might get laggy. 7 Monitors on Windows 7 with USB 3.0 - YouTube |

Re: New GFX Card for Whino
the lightning here is about 50€ more expensive, mostly gives your 2 to 5 extra fps and consumes more power. Really not worth the money for me. I'm buying the normal one

Re: New GFX Card for Whino
Bumpy, looks like Star Citizen's dogfight module might be coming out soon, which was the purpose of this topic a few months back when it looked like it might be coming out in December last year
OP still applies so if anyone has any suggestions post below, cheers! |

Re: New GFX Card for Whino
Bump up to a single GTX770 and you'll be retired from gaming by the time your future SLI GTX 770's kick the bucket.
same ebuyer, just a reference point to start your search: MSI GTX 770 GAMING LE 2GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI.. | Ebuyer.com Edit: MSi has some funky terminology for their 770 lineup. Make sure you read up on that. The 770 Gaming LE is a binned GPU. IDK if it will matter. Edit 2: If you can wait, get a 4GB GPU, Roberts has mentioned that VRAM will be an issue . |

Re: New GFX Card for Whino
I can't personally say much about the MSI GTX cards.
on the The Gigabyte , I have the Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce 2GB, with same cooler, and the card is superb, extremely extremely quiet. I've had it OC'ed +100 mem clock +100 core clock since the first week I bought it in late 2012 and it's been rock steady and dead quiet when non-gaming and barely audible when gaming. At the OC it is beating a stock reference design GTX 680 in synthetic benchmarks. (670 has less pipelines but the clock boost makes up for it) for reference on the GTX 600 series: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/G...dforce/31.html I was referring to waiting for the bank account to afford a 4GB card. Or buy it today if you have the cash. Your original choice was 200 Pounds at the time. And finally, if you plan to game with a 1080p monitor the GTX770 is going to perform pretty close to optimal cost/benefit ratio. The GTX 770 is a refined GTX 680 (literally). The GTX 780 uses the Titan chipset which is a totally different GPU. Simply overclocking a GTX 770 (even heavily) will not get you 780 performance. So without putting cash down to make the huge jump from the 680/770 to the 780/780ti/Titan , the 770 is the way to go. I'm not trying to spend your hard earned money... there aren't that many options in the NVidia family, a 680 4GBor 770 4GB will last a very long time I believe. IF Roberts properly supports SLI, later on picking up another 680 or 770 will keep you happy at 1080p for the first several years of Star Citizen. |
