The 300Watt power supply is the minimum.
Shut off all AA and AF. Make them "Let the application decide" What resolution are you trying and do you know what selective startup is in MSCONFIG? Make sure the hard drive has been defragged, too. There is a tweakguide somewhere. |

If you have to close your bf2 from the process list close the process ~e5.0001, then the game closes fine and smooth.

stuttering
I too use ATI and can't be of much help with your card per say but I agree with upgrading power to min 500 wats. The system freezes and shudder could be a sign of low power. A bigger power supply can't hurt and will always be
needed when you upgrade later anyway. You have a hp m9040n quad-core, 3gb ddrIIram, nvidia geforce 8400gs. How many drives are in the case as well? PS some motherboards let you adjust the bandwidth of your pci-x channel on the south bridge and don't necessarily default to the widest or largest so next time you boot go in to your motherboard bios and check what it's set at. Their are some good tweak guides around so check em out before you spend any $$. Here's one:NVIDIA GeForce videocard tweaking - TechSpot Good luck |

Sounds like it could be your power supply.
Try this : http://support.asus.com/PowerSupplyC...tor_right.aspx Just put in all the details of your computer in (type of graphics card, processor etc) and it will tell you the size you need. Then my advice would be to get one a couple of hundred watts bigger than needed for any other hardware you may want to fit in the future. One other thing is to remember that just because a psu says it is rated at say 1000 watts, it doesn't mean it is any good. I would check around some hardware forums to see what people think about the make you plan to get. Another calulator can be found here, http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php and http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp but they tend to under estimate things a little. It was telling me I needed 607 watts, but I know for a fact it stutters a little with a psu that size. I went for a 1000 watt psu, and it stops any stuttering at all. Try all three and you should get a pretty accurate picture of what you need. Hope this helps, let us all know if you get it sorted. |
