Default Re: PR:BF2 Falklands v0.1 Addon Released!

Falklands map is really fun! I enjoyed playing it and it has to be one of the best maps in PR. The issues highlighted above are relevant though, I find that there are too many people waiting around on vehicle warfare. There needs to be a couple more land vehicles too.

Also, the altimeter in most aircraft (if not all) read 10000 instead of 0 for some reason. So 10000 is now 0 altitude. On low settings (not sure about high settings), the water is just one light-blue layer which spans across the majority of the map. Now I'm not sure whether you deliberately put it this way so that Low video settings players can still run it without having to render so much but it really doesn't help if you're trying to fly. It's also confusing when your altimeter is wrong. Another thing that I find annoying is the fact that the air bases for each faction are completely off the map meaning you will have to guess where they are, making a landing considerably harder. I know you probably took this into account, because if you included the whole map then the actual combat area would be stupidly small, but not having the uncaps on the map is annoying and I don't like it.

But these are just a couple of small things which I have picked out of the new PR:F mini mod, and apart from that, this is really fun! It may seem like I'm just picking holes in the map but they are just a few cons to many, many pros.

I've encountered one problem in another map too, but about the view/render distance. For some reason, once you get a reasonable distance away from an object it starts z fighting. Now I don't know if this is down to the bf2 engine or whatever, but it's not the nicest thing to see. It sometimes happens on objects a bit closer too. Anyway, if anyone knows why this happens then please reply

Last of all, I would like to congratulate the PR dev team for creating another awesome map for the already epic PR mod, to add to PR:V and PR:N and I thank you for your time and effort because it has brought me many hours of fun and entertainment. I think I speak on behalf of most players, and I thank you for your commitment and dedication.

Keep up the good work guys and be sure to relax every once in a while, maybe even pop into a server or two :P

Anyway, here's to many more wonderful hours of Project Reality!

Cheers and ye, I'm not denying there are issues with the map but think some people are just over exaggerating how bad they really are.

This is a side effect from large scale maps, doesn't take much to adjust to it, I don't even notice it now.

Ye its another side effect from large scale maps. The water is basically not terrain water like your use to, that's 10km under the water to stop it from CTDing players due to how large the map is. The water is instead a massive water plane, which you see in rivers etc on some maps, and in low gfx its blue.... Not much I can do about it sorry.

Couldn't have the minimap to be 16kms without an error every time without any notification when you load up and you would need to alt+tab to continue though it (if you click cancel or try again on the message it also CTDs you) and there was no way around this problem
It would have also made identifying targets on the minimap far harder too.

But ye, there are navigation arrows in the corners of the minimap to tell you what direction you need to fly in and for what distance from them in order to find your main base. Its really quite easy once you've done it a few times.

Ye not much we can do about the zfigthing and vertex wobble.

Holy crap, I had an awasome game with Jafar yesterday, flying in very tight formations, escorting the bombers (A-4, Super Etendant), and most of all, ATC.. it was so awasome with all that:

"this is mirage 2, requesting permission for take-off, over"
"this is traffic control, runway is clear, you're ready to take-off, out"

or as a formation leader:

"turn right, 30 degrees, then start climbing to 3000, in 3... 2... 1..."

Welcome to the wonderful world of tactical comms with moderate numbers of jets in a real PR round. It's quite the high, isn't it?

People really have to stop complaining about the lack of scope. Today I killed 15 people in one round, died only twice, just with the FM FAL and the GPMG... You see a black dot, you shoot at it, they'll either fall back or die, people still care more about the kills than the objective really. And when a full squad pours down fire at enemies, even in the distance, they often die.

It's an amazing map, it's still a bit hard to deal with the Scimitar but other than that it's really fun.

Unfortunately most people have this policy already. The amount of times I have been teamkilled on this map is insane.

someone called Freehadi walked up to me in main and killed me when I had sniper kit. on PRTA 100p test, asked and !r no admins apparently, this is an official server right? how do I get this cunt banned?

edit: so mineralwoulter said he was admin but didn't do anything but troll me. don't admins have the tools to see team kill list, see its 1 minute through the round and therefore ban?
