Big problem installing BF2 after uninstalling PR

Hello,
I uninstalled old PR through add/remove and installed new version successfully, played it briefly and tried to play BF2 later that night when I got an error when joining a server that said I “can’t play in server with a modified version of BF2”.
I uninstalled PR and continued to get the error message. I figured this meant it was time to reinstall BF2 so I uninstalled it through add/remove.
Once I started the install, the “please insert disc 2” window popped up, I put the second disc in and that’s where it all stops. The installshield window pops up behind the install window and gives the “not responding” error.

After searching this forum for the problem I found only similar ones, but not exact.
As for trouble shooting I’ve done this:
- Delete bf folder from documents and program files
- Delete bf folder in registry
- Currently unable to uninstall bf2 from add/remove, error code –5001, so I deleted the folder.
- I’ve also tried installing on a different drive and using another set of discs from a friend.
- Compact Discs are clean
- Used xp's disc cleaner to free up space
- Defragged HD

I do know now that my biggest problem was that I didn’t go to the install guide to begin with and make some of the changes such as the shortcuts, but I just don’t see how this could affect the install.

Usually it's the shaders. There should be a .backup or .vanilla (or something). Deleting the normal ones and renaming the ones with .backup (or so) should fix it.

A friend of mine helped me troubleshoot for about an hour when he finally started in safe mode to install and it worked. It by passed the hang up on disc two.

hey...
how too istall bf project reality?
i istall it but it says: staticMesh.fx(2):error X1507:failed to open sourse file:'mods/xpack/shaders/daratypes.fx'
i try to unistall it and istal again but its the same ting :S
any one can help me pls?

you need the 1.41 bf2 patch installed.
