Increase Sniper Rifle Accuracy
Often to make headshot I need to aim at chest, so I can not be sure to hit precisely

An SVD has a 2MOA accuracy.
This means are say 200 yards it has a variance of up to 4 inches. Which means that effectively if you aim for the jaw line at 200 yards you may hit the chest. But I know what you are saying - I think you are saying that at 200 yards you are hitting him in the middle of the torso when aiming at the head. This is probably because some weapon variance setting is incorrect. |

The sniper rifles in the game don't really reflect their real life counterparts' true accuracy. The M24 supposedly has sub MOA accuracy, but in game the closest you can get to that is by sitting still for a few minutes then firing. The cone of fire needs to be decreased a lot, 1MOA = 1/60th of a degree deviation, i think. The M24 should have perfect headshot accuracy within 1km, and as BF2 maps rarely let you see that far anyway, the M24 should be going whereever you aim. The Dragunov should similarly give you perfect accuracy within 250m, which again is pretty much as far as you're going to be shooting in game, the Type 88 would probably be similar too. The L96A1, when added with the UK, should definitely have perfect accuracy over any distance, even better than that of the M24.
Despite all the 'shoulds', I still have a lot of luck with the current sniper settings. The M24 is basically one hit kill from most ranges and I love picking off my targets with it. Can't wait to see the L96A1. |

M24 MOA is 0.5 realistically in battle.
So at 1km we are talking 6 inches of deviation. This means a shot aimed at the head SHOULD hit a target's head at up to 1km. |

The only problem I have with the current sniper rifles is when the guy is on a vehicle top machinegun. I was playing single player the other day and you know how those bots are likely to stand still for a long time sometimes. He was on a US light jeep turret and I could see almost his entire body. I was prone and I couldn't hit him, no matter how much I waited for my aim to stabilize.
However, when ppl are outside vehicles they are just dead meat to snipers. |
