XP pr.exe problem

installed PR 0.86 client, netframework 3,5; 0.86 levels, and when i try to run PR from the desktop icon i get this error:

i read a few other threads about something similar, and apparently its a shortcut path problem;
so i run vbf2; go to community and select the project reality mod from there (as i think this should circumvent anything wrong with the icon shortcut path), the mod launches but i get a ''you must launch pr from pr.exe'' error.

any ideas?

PS: in case it is indeed an installation path problem, PR is installed in
N:\Alberto\battlefield 2\mods\pr

the icon target is

"N:\Alberto\battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +config +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +widescreen +szx 1440 +szy 900

ive also tried launching it with "N:\Alberto\battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" only, i added the second part because i read it solved someone's problem on some other thread but it didnt make any difference.

Yes its a mismatch between your instalation path and where your registry thinks its installed. PLease read this thread.

k went in the registry thing and indeed there was a disrepancy between where that installation path and the actual one.. (every time i disconect the external hard drive and reconnect it it gets another letter assigned for some reason) lets see if this works

EDIT:
k i dont have the error anymore now, meaning when i double click the desktop icon i get the PR splash and checking task manager bf2.exe is launched, but it crashes almost intantly, while im still on my desktop, without any error message :S
help plaz!

never mind the crash was caused by the
+modPath mods/pr +config +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +widescreen +szx 1440 +szy 900
thing i had copied and added to my desktop icon path, i guess that resolution is a no go. i deleted this part and am now on login screen
