Low fps on older hardware but CPU and Grapics Card not at limit?
So I can't remember how much fps I got when I first started playing PR but now I get really low fps on some maps and situations. For example on Dragon Fly I get 70 fps in the British base while having around 40 in the city and being near a burning car in the city it gets to 30 fps on an empty server. When I play on a 100 player server I get below 20 fps sometimes which is understandable with this amount of players to get a fps drop but the initial fps drop is what worries me.
I'm by no means a computer pro but I was checking my system while playing in MSI Afterburner and my GPU usage was at 30 %. my vram was around 300 mb and my CPU usage was around 60 % in general but on some cores it was around 60-70 % while spiking to 90 % sometimes but not often. So is this fps expected from the hardware I have? Edit: I forgot to mention that changing the graphic settings makes no difference. I get a little less fps if I run the game on high but it really doesn't matter and there is literally no difference between medium and low. Code:

Re: Low fps on older hardware but CPU and Grapics Card not at limit?
PR is a cpu intensive game and only utilizes 1 core, no way around it. it sounds to me that your fps is normal for your hardware. i've got an i7 4770k @ 3.5 ghz and i never get a consistent fps of 60, it fluctuates a lot. also depends on the map and gamemode (ins will be more intensive since players are collected in 1 place.. well, supposed to be at least.)
make sure you have any other programs running that you don't need at that instance closed. |

I have this and its just about playable, i think PR is very CPU speed dependant mine has a built in 16% overclock I switch on for PR so it's at 2.8ghz ish.

Re: Low fps on older hardware but CPU and Grapics Card not at limit?
Like everyone has said, PR has become very CPU intensive as the game is single threaded. It's an old game built on an old engine pushed to its limits. The larger maps and 100 players has knocked a lot of older and newer processors to their knees. I suggest overclocking as high as you can go or upgrade to a shiny new i7 4790k. It currently has the best single thread performance scores according to Passmark.
