Exclamation Pr v1.0 Launch Crash

I have a problem:

Whenever I launch pr, I get a black screen for a while, then the rotating pr dog-tag (with Menu music) , then it crashes to desktop with a window saying "Cleaning BF2:PR Resources".
I have the disk version of bf2. It's up-to-date, pr is up-to-date (v1.0.36), and Punkbuster is up-to-date. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Pr and bf2, but its still not working.
It was working fine a while ago, I have no idea what's wrong. Please Help! I want to be back on the battlefield!

What did you change on your PC/hardware in your house since last time it worked? Think of that first pls.

I'm having a similar problem. All I know is since I updated to Windows 8.1 I can't start Battlefield 2 or Project Reality.

I get an error about Directx 9.0c when trying to launch Battlefield 2. I have Directx 11. When I go into compatability mode I can get to the main "Singleplayer or Multiplayer" screen but the second I try to retrieve my account or launch singleplayer it crashes.

Project Reality just crashes at startup after the intro movie.

Not trying to hijack this thread but if anyone could help me as well I'd appreciate it.

I have the same problem, I also tried reinstalling both BF2 and Project Reality, I tried starting as admin and in compability mode - nothing works.

My specs:
Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @3.20GHZ
12 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 (2GB GDDR5)
Creative Blaster X-FI Titanium

Software-Settings:
Everything Maxed @ 1080p 60Hz

I also have a weird error in BF2, where I can't log in via my username (only via my email-address), could this be connected somehow?

I found a possible solution for this problem (sorry for the double-post, but I think it's important that this thread gets bumped, so that people can see the solution):

I had the same problem, but I found out (after two weeks of trial and error) that the problem was caused by a programm called "WideCap" - uninstalling this programm will solve the problem.
This is also the reason why un- and reinstalling the game and mod doesn't solve the problem.

I hope I could help someone

PS: This also solves a problem in Battlefield 2, where you can't connect to your account and get an error-message that says "Error finding a socket's addres"

Just for the information for those who wonder too what exactly "WideCap" is, it is a proxy tool.
