C-130 Truck delivery/spawn
Worried about getting shot down but to hell with it....
Rather then the Argentine faction having a logistic(s) truck that respawns, the C-130 must fly to the island from the Mainline which would let the truck the spawn? Could be silly, but could be fun on one layer (alt) for example. or would give the downed pilots something to do whilst waiting for their jets to respawn. Recreates the realism of the nightly C-130 missions ran every night during the conflict. |

Re: C-130 Truck delivery/spawn
Ye, could be fun but that's if we get a C-130, which the only one in BF2 right now is an AC-130 from DCON, which as I mentioned in the other topic they have never wanted to trade with us and don't think that would have changed.
Ignoring that part, Stanley airport is pretty damn small on the maps 1:30 scale and has a massive bomb creator in the middle of it Might be a bit tricky to land on it hehe Not to mention how easy it would be to shoot down. |

Re: C-130 Truck delivery/spawn
How did the manage IRL, I assume the undamaged bit of the runway enough for a C-130 to land?
Yes maybe too much that the C-130 would need fighter escort to keep it safe(r). In squad teamwork for the air force squad. Arte you going to stick some more craters in to make a line? OT rant: One thing that really bugs me about ALL the Falklands literature is them saying the first Vulcan bomb run (black buck 1) was a failure as it only hit it with one bomb - that was the idea, at that time with laser guiding not being quite there if they tried to drop along the length of the runway that would've failed. So naturally they went to drop a stick at an angle (at 45deg) to the runway to make sure they'd disable it, as the amount of work to repair it to fast jet standards would have taken too long. They had seen that the Argentinians had brought up an arrestor barrier for the A4's to use the airfield that's why they needed to keep it damaged. But black buck 2 did miss.... Quote:

I haven't heard the first mission called a failure before? While its physical impact was ye, not that much it did massively to moral and to the redeployment of aircraft and most significantly IMO, even thou its hardly mentioned it kept most of the Mirage IIIEA's out of the main conflict, as they where kept back to protect Argentina itself from Vulcan attack as the Argentinians where so worried about the mainland getting bombed, meaning the harriers had very little to deal with enemy aircraft trying to take them out, resulting in no harriers being lost to air to air combat. | |

Re: C-130 Truck delivery/spawn
^ yeah he said as much in 'forgotten voices' too; claiming it was a desperate attempt for RAF to be more involved so they could get a slice of the action. Sharkey has got quite alot to say on the war tbh, he really didn't like Admiral Woodward; I suspect that Sharkey was a pirate in a previous life.
Though I'm sure thats probably true too, the capability of bombing buenos aires (or implied capability) probably did damage morale; it certainly did send a statement of intent. |

Re: C-130 Truck delivery/spawn
The RAF get more involved paaah!
First air to air kill RAF pilot in Sea Harrier All ground attack getting shot at was RAF GR's There were alot of RAF pilots in RN Sea Harriers. This however is the thing I find stupid in all the military organisations this Air Force/Army/Navy and Marines to a degree infighting. As I said before they had seen a Skyhawk arrestor on Port Stanley airfield everyone was doing their max to avoid the horrible outcome had they been posted there. Navy did big bombardments. RAF GR's risked a lot of ground fire to bomb Vulcans too. Only the vulcans managed to make it fast jet inoperable.... |

Re: C-130 Truck delivery/spawn
Can't say I've heard of any parachute supplies being used during the Falklands and seeing how we have Choppers doing that job of giving supplies to front line troops I don't think its really require gameplay wise.

Re: C-130 Truck delivery/spawn
I've always thought of having a herc, where you entered it and got a parachute (or even airborne kit), and the pilot dropped you on his accord. But I do see how this could be difficult on a map with such small landing strips. Then again, STOL.
