UAV, almost to useful
After watching an interview at IGN w/ Scott Evans (im pretty sure thats his name) He stated that the Commander will be able to use a UAV, good idea, but there's a problem... He also said that the UAV will automatically give away enemy positions on the commanders and the players maps... And that is really unrealistic. Instead of this, the Commander should have to watch the UAV footage, and if he spots anything that is a danger to his team, he can than click on that area and mark it as a dangerous area or something like that, and a marking will show up on the his teams maps. So somehow make it so that the Commander has to play a role in spotting and marking enemies on the map, instead of the UAV doing all the work. |

i wouldnt say its that unrealistic with the speed of information or the flow of information rather in todays battlefield its not that unrealistic especially considering the games set for '08 time period

Well, yes, the transfer of information is extremly fast now a days, but I dont think a UAV should be able to pick out every enemy in an area and display it to the entire team, because, with PR, im guessing there will be quite a few people trying to remain hiden, and to have a UAV fly over and give your position away would really stink... Or atleast make it so that if your in a building or under something, your not detected.

Tactical is right. Everyone is carrying around a digital map which will have red blinking enemies when it scans over the area. It can somehow identify enemies and send it to everyones mini-maps.

i really like that idea tac making the commander do a little more homework and making him circle the area that might be in danger the to the team ^^ awsome gives the man with a lazy boy another controler to play with

but the enemy units wouldn't just suddenly apear on the map, their pos. would have to be relayed via the commander. and for this commander mode spotting campers, in PR camping i think will become more common since the pace of the fighting will have slowed down due to every one wanting to stay alive for the longest possible time.

Howabout...
When in normal commander view, looking around, the commander can only see freindly units, enemy units within visual range of freindly units and units identified by a uav/ satellite sweep. Satellite sweep would just identify the whole map, but not in real time UAV should give the commander a real time view for an area for 45 seconds or whatever (think the nifty little sweep the terran comsat station can do in starcraft) |

How about,
the commander can see everything. But he can only mark danger areas while the UAV is running and only in the area the UAV is scanning, so he can still see enemies and call in artillery strikes, but cant mark them as a danger zone on the map... Question... Will the UAV be using thermal vision or standard vision, because without thermal, being able to look over the map all the time kinda defeats the use of a UAV period. |
