Losing connection every now and then
Hey.
I've had problems with my internet connection before and unfortunately the problem has come back. Every now and then I (and the rest of the people in my house) lose connection to my router. It varies how long it takes until I'm connected again, but usually we're talking about 1-2 minutes. I changed the channel on my router from 7 to 4 without luck, so I just changed it from 5 to 11 to see if that helped. Haven't been disconnected yet, but we're only talking about 15 minutes. I also noticed that 'Enable Auto Channel Scan' is turned off; should this be on? The router (D-Link DIR-655) shouldn't be the problem as I bought it half a year ago, and according to the guy who sold it to me it was a router with great connection and range. Does anyone know what might cause this frustrating problem? Thanks, saX. |

1. Does anyone know what might cause this frustrating problem? The router (D-Link DIR-655) sucks.
2. Turn off Auto Scan. The entire DIR series is horrible. What Hardware revision and firmware revision are you using? Log in to the router and look at the config, copy and paste here, it should look something like this: Quote:
The other option on the DIR-655 is to buy a Hi Gain 5Ghz omnidirectional antenna booster to increase the signal strength. (Or a 2.4Ghz version, but there is more local interference in 2.4Ghz range now.) 3x 9dBi OMNI High Gain Router Antenna For DLink DIR-655 | eBay Amazon.com: Hawking HiGain Directional Corner Antenna, indoor, 15dBi - HAI15SC: Electronics Or buy booster antennas for your WiFi adapters on your PCs. But that is expensive and the biggest hassle.

Damn salesmen...

I searched for a firmware update but it couldn't find anything. I'll consider purchasing new antennas.
