Wink PR-FDF Hilight Reel #1 - 1-1-2011

Comrades, seasons greetings from snowy Finland.

If still having a new year's hangover, don't panic. No, this this is not a deliric dillusion. This is Finland calling and reminding that we're still alive and kicking.

PR-FDF team has been working hard since August when NautaFIN aka Hulabi revived the project and new resources showed up to strengthen our team.

We now have faction in game with all vehicles and weapons used by FDF that are in PR atm. Also set up repository and test server for messing around with FDF stuff.

To solemnize the brand new year, we decided to publish some brand new WIP material never seen in public. Models are (early) WIP and are more than glad to receive comments before starting some serious texturing.

WIP Patria AMV

Here's our very own AMV model:

She's waiting for a .50CAL on top of her and is our "heavier" APC used along with Sisu XA-188.

<Edit> More in WIP thread

WIP CV-9030

As you already know, we are working on CV-90 model in co-operation with Norwegian faction.

(pic found from my stashes, just for graphical show off

Humble thanks for Norwegians for co-op and credits for original model go to Fastwinston.

WIP Sisu XA-188

We have had negotiations also about Sisu XA-188 with the Norwegians, as it is used in both Finland and Norway and model is developed for NOR. Credits for original model again to Fastwinston.

(Picture from Salmonella's post - just some eye candy because i love that piece of work

Humble thanks again for Norwegians for co-op and credits for original model go to Fastwinston - again

WIP Leopard 2 A4

Also this one we are working together with NOR faction. E.g. a new turret is in the making by Nowegian faction and NautaFIN.

<Edit> WIP thread

WIP M/05 Woodland textures

Our intelligence sources have revealed the source of leaked elusive M/05 on Silent Eagle:

Very early WIP kit geometries

NOTE: textures are definitely not final.

And here's something finnish made we're working on for him to carry

WIP SP05 "Sissipuukko"

WIP 7.62 RK 62

<Edit> More in WIP thread.

WIP H&K69A1 (20 KRPIST 2002), a german peculiarity used by FDF:

<Edit> More in WIP thread.

Very early WIP Sako TRG-42

More pics: TRG42 pictures by TuPP3 - Photobucket

Some statics

WIP Map Prizrak

Some of you might have also noticed, that Element-X_IV is making a map for us. Tons of thanks to him and big applause.

The Team

ATM we have 9 finns in our team - eager to learn and some of us reaching for advanced levels in modeling, texturing and import/export:
- 6 of can do modeling - some advanced some just starting to learn w/ simple statics
- 3 of them are also texturing
- 2 mappers starting new maps, atm on drawing board
- 1 coder learning how to fly (guess who : )

The Plan

Updated design plan (also updated in post #1 by Hulabi): https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...hl=en_GB#gid=0

Happy, fruitful and productive New Year!

Temexter

PR-FDF Communications Officer

On behalf of PR-FDF Team

INteresting video not really informative....not really worth watching, and that SAKO TRG looks really low quality. Something just looks weird with it.
ANyway can't wait for Finland to join the fight, wonder if the Swedes are going to come along also?

Those are quite old pics. Taken when this was done for Polish. More to come...

Both of those seem to have a lot of floating geometry just above the main surfaces. I imagine it will cause pretty ferocious z-fighting in game. The rivets and the details on the back of the Patria look like they're very close to the surface. I would have thought the rivets would be better done through a texture myself.

Otherwise it all looks very nice. Part of the reason I like PR is because you get to play as a vast array of toys from lots of different countries, would be nice to see force like the Finns which are rarely represented.

The floating geometry on the AMV will be baked on a low poly model, which is around 6500 tri heavy. The model we've shown is the high poly model.
The tires for example, are 10 500 tri each on the high poly model, here they are baked on a low poly tire (credits for the bake go to our main texture artist, splatters.)

High poly on the left, low poly bake on the right.

Normal & AO Mapped low poly bake:

That's looking great fellows!

One thing - you're sure you need the Sisu when you've already got the Patria?
