Another widescreen CTD Problem

OK Folks, Those of you who have widescreen monitors (particularly those which are LCD/TFT/HDTV flatpanel TVs) who either

1. Crash upon loading a map
2. Crash after the bf2 splash screen
3. Crash after clicking "Log In" to your account
4. Widescreen fixer/ Shortcut Parameters/ Emtying cache DONT work

Read carefully

The Fix

Firstly, uninstall BF2 and PR

Nextly, Reinstall everything correctly

Nowly, load PR it should load in 800x600 and crash when you try to load a map

Thenly, go back to desktop go to you My docs/BF2/Profiles/0001 folder and Delete Video.con

Lastly, input this into your shortcut Parameter "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start+modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 720 (Use your own resolution obviously

Job done, you should be fixed and rolling with Widescreen BF2!

Back Story:

No life history here, I'm tired, been screwing with this all night

Using my 27 inch tv as a monitor now

Rez 1280x720@60Hz 16:9

Bf2 splash screen shows, then my TV goes blue (standyby colour e.g. no signal) flickers a bit then I've CTDed with the TVs display showing its resolution it's running at

tried widescreen fixer 1.32

Ttrying altering the shortcut with widescreen, without widescreen, with just fullscreen and widescreen and fullscreen.
Tried altering the video.con file

tried different resolutions and the only difference I get is sometimes a black window pops up before the crash, as if its s small blacked out program window

All my other games work nicely on this, its just the bloody PR that wont and it's getting right on my tits, plz help

What does your short cut 'target' look like?
Mine looks like this:
"E:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

I think you want:
+widescreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 720

Did you try deleting the video.con? (do a backup first)
It forces the game to write a new one.

A television runs on 29.97 Hz.
Not 30 or 60.
Try that.

every other game runs fine, except PR

I get the BF2 Splash screen, a lot of hard drive revving, a blank screen and then my desktop again

Your missing 'start' from your 'string'

yours:

mine(on my 'C' drive backup):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start+modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 0

Try this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start+modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 720

okies now

Complete reinstall has me making it past the splash screen on load, HOWEVER it'll only load in 800x600 rez, even then it'll crash if I try to load a map... Trying to force ANY other resolution sees me back to square one with a blank screen and CTD after the splash

EDIT!::: Palerider knows some form of black magic... Copying and pasting his string (minus the (x86) worked to load up in 1280x720 rez BUT! now it crashes as soon as I click account login....

all you really have to do is add is +szx 1280 +szy 720.

Heres mine. its all I add after I install BF2 and any other BF2 mod.
