Sight Unit Infantry Trilux (SUIT)

Hey all!

A few days ago I started converting our IP29 Trilux scope, into an L2A2 SUIT 4x Scope for the L1A1 SLR to be used as the British Marksman Rifle in Project Reality: Falklands.

This may seem a bit odd but this is because the IP29 Trilux scope (which is used on the AK-74M) is a Russian copy of the British L2A2 SUIT scope, and a pretty much a direct copy. The main differences is really in the mounting which I made from scratch, then the scope was removing details, adding some more and modifying the odd bit in order to get it right :)

Once I UVed it, [R-DEV]Sabre-Oz went ahead texturing it, making the mount match the colours of the L1A1 and giving the scope a very nice feel 8-)

Then it was over to [R-DEV]Chuc who took on the task of animating it, and with Chuc being Chuc, decided that he would redo all the FN FAL animations while he was at it as the origin of the rifle in the current animations wasn't quite right for a scope :D
And now its just up to [R-CON]-=anders=- to re-align his new sounds to the new animations ;)

While this scope is today's equivalent of a 4x ACOG Scope which you find on pretty much every assault rifle in a modern squad, back in 1982 these where produced in very low numbers and only issued to Marksman. This will still however be a very powerful tool in a squad seeing as everyone else pretty much only has iron sights on their weapons ;)

Any ways that enough of that, time for some pictures :D

Fancy! And I had it in my head that Falklands would employ the Old british geometries. Must have made it up all by myself.

that question was asked in the general forums, the issue isn't the geometries, its that they go on custom british soldier bodies that we have since abandoned due to various issues

hehe, its quite amusing how this seems to be everyone's first reaction to this

Unfortunately thou from what the MAs have said so far, it doesn't look like many SUITs are still around today nor anything to suggest the ones that are, are being used in combat so it looks unlikely as it is right now that the militia or anyone else other than the 1982 Brits will get this

any SUITs that are still around would not be illuminated any more as the Tritium gas would have completely decayed over the last 3 decades. although obviously the optics would still work

Well, since the 1P29 is a copy of this, you can just say the ones on the Militia FALs are 1P29s and fitted with custom mounts.

I've seen a EOTECH mounted on a L22, but it doesn't mean its common practice

If you find some evidence to suggest that SUIT or IP29s are used on FN FALs by militia groups then wouldn't have much of a problem, although would take a bit of work to get the IP29 on the new mount.

But just wondering about the real gun, is there any pics about it during that time? I mean I've never seem this before.
