Re: Laptop memory?
When you post the Model Number (look at label on bottom) i can look for a manual.
Normaly the memory is on the bottom side of Notebook - so you should easy feel if it's getting too hot - means that you can't keep your hand there for long... As it has 4GB i think it will be DDR2 minimum - which runs with less voltage ( than DDR1) that way it doesn't get to warm - as long as you have enough airflow (at the Bottom too) - so never place it on your bed or pillow Next thing is: yes RAM can get defective by overheating - you can check with Vista Memtest from Bootmenu or InstallDVD or if you use XP go download Memtest86+ Iso, burn to bootable CD, boot from it and let it run minimum one time complete (all 10 Test) it will show you if it's defective: http://www.memtest.org/download/2.11...+-2.11.iso.zip If you get error messages and don't know how to change memory http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01678265.pdf send me a PM - otherwise please post result and ask for more suggestions. |
