generally 500 or 550 watts will just fine. to be on the very safe side (and in case you ever want to add another graphics card) i would go for a 600watt PSU.. and if you want to go fancy, you can get a fully modular one to keep your case clutter free

Somewhere in specifications was written, that you need at least 28A on a rail in order to run GTX970. Try to google for it.

Yes we have both learnt it's all about the rails, I got a 500 which I didn't know was 2 x 17, so got another with one rail at 40A instead.

I would get a little bigger and make sure it is 80PLUS Gold. It will only use what the computer draws and you want to have play room. So if you are pulling 450W, you don't want a 500W PS, it will burn out quicker.

Like suggested in other replies, I would shoot for a 600+W just to be on the safe side.

Gold Silver, Platinum has nothing to do with actual power output efficinecy it is more of a quality of components used and less power drain from the wall socket. So it is power efficiency but in diferent direction.

OP

I would say that 600W should be safe minimum for that build, 80+ Bronze with at least 30 amps on 12v rail. More than one 12v rail if possible.

Pick any from the link, you wont make a mistake.

or

to narrow the search.
