Default Guide to Squad Rifleman

Guide to being a Rifleman

The Rifleman is the staple in any squad. He can engage units at range and up close and has plenty of frag grenades for assualting a position. Heres a number of tips that I may or may not make into a full blown guide one day.

- Engaging targets at range takes skill and practice. Learn to adjust for bullet drop and adjusting to hit a moving target

- When engaging targets, do not stay still in one spot, fire and move. Even if you move 1 meter left or right, it makes you harder target. So fire 2 or 3 rounds and move.

- Always keep your eyes on your target, you have to know what your enemy is doing in order to put effective fire on to them.

- When firing over 100 meters the ideal firing position is prone, use it if it is possible.

- When your squad comes up against an enemy defense (tree, hill bunker, etc) it is YOUR JOB to clear it out. Use your grenades liberally when making the assault. Be sure to relay to your squad leader that the area is clear once you have killed the enemy.

- Using smoke cover takes practice, each situation is different. Generally it is a good thing to throw the smoke as close to the enemy as you can.

- DO NOT throw smoke cover directly on top of you, all it does is blind yourself and allows the enemy to assault your position much easier.

- Ammo bags should be conserved as you only have one of them. Save this bag for your AT troop or in dire times if your squad medic is out of bandages/defibulators. Be sure to restock your ammo bag from your RP or vehicle as soon as possible.

- When anyone calls for ammo, any riflemen in the area will have their mini map blue dot change to an ammo symbol. So you can locate a rifleman using your map. When calling for ammo, your own nametag and minimap blue dot will flash brightly that you need ammo.

Another thing to add to the fire and move tip is to always keep your eyes on your target. If you fire and look away you could come back up to engage and get immediately shot. You have to know what your enemy is doing.

SM3: We must flank it and shot its branches off

A secondary function, would be to make sure the bunkers stay up with the shovel.
