Default Attention to detail

I find that a lot of players simply do not pay attention to details when they are moving around, firing, and scanning for enemy activity.
In both urban and rural combat environments, there are simple and very clever details you can use to get a slight upped hand, this applies to most Infantry and even Armour tactics.

Scenario: You and your squad are moving down an open road, you have encountered two enemy contacts and hastily gunned them down, suffering a casualty out of your 6 man unit. Unsure if enemies are still in the area, you tell your men to watch out and move slowly, checking spacing, and keeping in cover.

In this situation, there are things to look out for.

1:Watch for birds, they give a fairly accurate description as to where your enemy is hiding. However; a vigilant enemy can also tell where you and your men are by watching the same thing. If you see birds flying away, quickly glance at your mini-map and see if there are friendlies in that area.

2:Use covering firing lines; this means you are selecting 1 or 2 members to cover your other squad members while they move up.

3:Listen carefully; Sound is one of your best weapons against your enemy. A foot step, the sound of a nearby rally point, the little things add up in the end.

Back to the scenario; You decide the open street is too dangerous to continue walking around on and move down an alleyway. Once in the alleyway, you hear the distinct sound of a rally point, you check your map and find that there is no allied rally point even close to you. You hear footsteps on a rooftop above your squad and a few birds come flying off the top of the building. You are fully aware of your enemies location without ever having to directly see or hear them.

If you know where your enemy is without ever having them see you, you can launch the fabled 'Ambush', but that is another tactic.

Add any comments or further suggestion to this thread if you can and or feel compelled. You can also bash the tactic to your hearts content, but know this; I'm watching for the birds.
