Default Mumble Locks System

I'm experiencing a nasty problem with Mumble sometimes that affects both the new (built-in) and old (standalone) versions of the client where about every 1 in 10 start-ups of the client result in the system effectively locking up sufficiently enough that it's impossible to open Task Manager or CTRL-ESC or end a process task or whatever to recover it. As this occurrs, the hard disk activity light indicates a ton of disk access doing *something*, which seems to continue no matter how long it's left to do it. I've tried logging the disk activity in this state but it's not been possible to gain enough control over the system to observe what's happening or save a log, so I can't pin it down. I've also tried running Mumble at lowest CPU priority but it doesn't help.

This has become a lot bigger problem now though with beta1 as the client is crashing so often throughout rounds (20x or so wouldn't be an exaggeration) that the chance of the client restarting and failing in this way has increased so much that chances are it will lock the system sometime mid-game, forcing me to have to hit reset on the PC.

The only non-typical thing I can think of that could be of interest here would be that I run third-party "KX Project" driver software on the soundcard instead of standard wares, and that Mumble might not be playing well with it sometimes.

So, any ideas?

I've experienced something similar every time mumble crashed and was starting up, made my mouse cursor almost unresponsive. And since the last time I played mumble kept crashing every 3 seconds it worked... Well - it forced me to turn it off.

I can confirm same thing happens to me. When mumble crashes mouse goes haywire as if the sensitivity has gone very low and there is a hair in the mouse sensors. Doesn't go away unless I manage to shutdown the mumble.

On related good news, mumble launches immediately back, but it can crash couple times in a short time before its stable.

The mouse lag happened to me too once. Feels like windows is about to hang. Alt+tabbed back in PR and out and it was gone.

I don't know that you folk are having the same problem as me as I'm unable to regain control of the system at all when it freaks out - I have to hard reset the machine.

EDIT: Scratch that, I found I can actually regain control now if I wait long enough for PRLauncher to end the process.

This problem is killing me. Whether the system is going to freeze up as I reach the spawn screen (when PRLauncher starts the Mumble process) is totally a roll of a dice as it is now.

Why is there a ton of disk activity when this occurs? What could it, or something else, be doing? SQL malfunction? - Something is failing to initialise properly, but only occasionally.

Console log doesn't show anything different when comparing between a normal startup log and a failed startup log. It does list some errors sometimes though (possibly not related to the fault):

Code:
QMetaObject::invokeMethod: No such method MainWindow::setupView(bool)

QMetaObject::invokeMethod: No such method MainWindow::updateTrayIcon()

QPixmap: It is not safe to use pixmaps outside the GUI thread

QObject::killTimer: timers cannot be stopped from another thread

QObject::startTimer: timers cannot be started from another thread
