Campaign 10: SITREP #1 (Timeline, Mapboard, & More)
It has been almost a week since the Sign-Ups have closed, and we want to give everyone some insight on what has happened this week and what will be the timeline for the coming weeks. First of all - we were absolutely overwhelmed by the speed the sign-ups went! Within a couple of hours, all spots in both teams were taken, even though we increased both team and reserve size to give more players the chance to join. Sign-Ups to both teams will be available again at a later stage in this campaign! Sign up in the forums, get to know the teams and join the bootcamp! The usage of our new sign-up application form went very well - thanks to [T-ADM]TomNedry for developing this tool, which saved hours of sorting and handling sign-ups in a single thread. After two days, we could deliver a full list of team members to the Supreme Commanders of the teams and they started setting up their teams. Members come from all over the world and from almost all age-groups, as you can see in these graphs: (not counting countries with 1-2 people in the PRT) Now that all team members have been assigned, the staff of both teams are currently setting up squads, reserves, and defining roles in their teams. At the same time, we are discussing map No-Go zones, map layers and bootcamp content with the team commanders. Once all that is set (end of the month latest), we will discuss which Team (A or B) plays EMF and which one plays PAC. If there can be no agreement, we will flip a coin to decide the assignment. All users will be added to their shiny new forums and usergroups and can start up their propaganda engines. This is when the campaign officially kicks off! The Pre-Battle Preparation Time (DEFCON 2) will start on October 1 with mandatory boot-camps for the teams and the official PRT Bootcamp (free for all). The PRT provided a bootcamp for everyone in past campaigns and we will continue to do so! The first preparation battle will be played on Jabal Al Burj, an old tournament classic in which both teams rely on fast deployment and high coordination between squads, commander, ...and mortar crews. The first official tournament battle cycle of Campaign 10 starts right after, and we will be DEFCON 1! Quote:
(Dates and times subject to change!) We haven't really talked about the campaign board yet so far and we believe it's time to finally introduce this new feature to the tournament. The campaign board will allow the commanders to apply tactical decisions to the map selection and secure the victory by making the right move. It works in similar ways as old-school board games. Below we present the official map selection for this campaign. This selection was chosen by the PRT Staff to allow for a balanced campaign. Which layers are to be played is to be decided by the high command of the teams in cooperation with the PRT Staff in the coming weeks. We wanted to make these decisions together with them before they are assigned a team (EMF/PAC) so we can provide maximum balance between the teams and allow for their input to be put into what layers are played. It is also to be decided in these discussions whether or not Command and Control will be played. Note that the campaign board above is a static version. We provide everyone with an interactive board on our Status Page. You can access this page by clicking on the 'Status' button in the site header. On the Status Page, the campaign board will always show the latest stance of the board and when hovering over each tile you will see more information about the specific hexagon - score, layer, date, etc. The Status Page also offers next-battle intelligence, Quick Links, and other useful information. It's the ideal page to bookmark to stay up to date on the tournament battles. To read the exact workings on the campaign board and how the commanders can make their moves on it we guide you to our FAQ where it is explained in detail. Many of you are already using it, but for those who don't, our own [T-CON]U_Turista is the developer of a PRSPY-android application launched at the end of July. This application has over 350+ installations already and now features some tournament features too! You will be able to see the PRT countdown towards each battle and have a list of all battles with information of the maps, dates and scores. It's the ideal application to have a quick overview of this campaign on your mobile. For more information on this application we guide you to the PR-highlight. You can download the application for free from the Android Play Store. We welcome all team members and reserves to join their team and the staff in the official Tournament Teamspeak! When you join, you will not be able to see any members in the team channels, this is in order to avoid the teams seeing what the other team is doing in their section of TS. However, there is a section for both teams combined where you can go pubbing together and get to know friend and foe. Quote:
We expect everyone to behave on the teamspeak. Same rules apply as in the forums & we do not tolerate any breaches! Furthermore, we are also readying the battle and training servers! ---------------------- That is all the information we have for now, stay active on the forums/IRC/Teamspeak to always be updated on the latest news and information. The battles are close now. Be prepared!
