Radar Altimeter
I'm wondering if you guys can add a radar/radio altimeter to some of the aircraft in PR basically i think it would consist of using the rangefinder script for the plane at a different angle. I just want this because it's really hard to tell how high or low you are on maps like kashan where you have very few landmarks distinguish how high you are. if anything add it to choppers, because most of the terrain in the maps is uneven and the choppers have such a tendency to flip you want to get just as low as you can get so you're not touching the uneven surface. I just think this would aid alot of pilots who have to fly low to avoid a lock or chopper pilots who want to fly just low enough for troops to get in and just high enough to not touch the side of a hill.

You don't find the altimeter you already have good enough?
Why would you land on uneven surfaces? This sounds Hardcoded btw! |

ah, that sucks. guess i'll just have to rely on visual cues to see how high i am.

I probably should start a new thread for this, but on a related topic, can the active radar show a planes range with a number beneath the box? I know this is possible because the ATGMs on the A-10 and Su-25 show the distance to the ground target.

So it wouldn't be possible to aim a Range finder down so you could know how high you are relative to the ground below you and now Sea Level?
Hm... Darn. Well, how about adding a Camera view that would be equivalent to the pilot leaning away from his seat and looking down, rather than just turning his head in all directions with moving his neck? That would be EXTREMELY useful for transport chopper pilots trying to find a good LZ or even better, not landing on the teammate so eager to get on the whirly bird. |

Don't think piots are able to see directly underneath by leaning IRL.

Look at the windows on the lower corners of the nose, not directly below, but irl most choppers provides a window facing the ground. And yes I could see a use of AGL altimeters, but it doesnt seem to be possible. |
