strange sound
until recently I was using onboard sound but I bought this
Tried altering sound quality but no matter which setting I am getting awful sound. The sounds close to me are fine but gunfire is coming through distorted and I can't judge which direction it is coming from or how far, also ingame radio messages and rallypoint radio noises are realy distorted and stuttery. VOIP is fine though? ABIT AN8 32x (sck 939) Athlon x2 3600+ 2 gig DDR 512mb Inno3d 8800GT usb 5.1 soundcard (only got 2.1 speakers but Im usually on headphones anyway) anyone else getting this? |

Re: strange sound
Headphones might be it. When i plug mine fully into the jack the sounds go TERRIBLE, like distorted, crunchy, REALLY bad. BUT if I pull the plug out slightly, just slightly so its still in but resting on it, it sounds just fine.
Its something with my headphone jack :P Might be yours too... |

Re: strange sound
did you configure the sound settings for headphones?
some sound devices bring extra software which have acoustics features which you can turn on. eg you can make everything sound like in a bathroom etc - make sure you do not have a filter like that activated |

Re: strange sound
yeah it's set up ok in my sound settings for the usb sound card, I always switch it from speaker to headphone in there before I swap anyway, it's easy enough to do.

Re: strange sound
it would be classed as 'Hardware' and not software in the BF options wouldnt it? long shot I know I have Hardware checked as it is an actual device?
I have EAX on too as it says it supports EAX 2, Im reluctant to turn that off really, hope it's not that! |

Re: strange sound
sorted this just incase anyone gets the same problem,
SOFTWARE sound quality HIGH EAX box checked for some reason I am using an external USB soundcard yet I have to choose software, not hardware..not bothered though as sound quality is now spot-on |
